***Put on A Happy Face***
Back in 1988, when I first logged on to the Internet, the only way to chat with other users was through a line by line text chat. Exciting as this was, there was little room for real expression. This week I downloaded a program called The Palace which brings chat to the next level. The Palace Chat allows you to create an Avatar (a virtual representation of yourself) and then connect to one of the thousands of Palace "Sites" on the Internet. The Palace Chat starts you off with a smiley face avatar which (after you register) can be customized to look however you want. The Palace Chat is a real adventure, something I've now spent quite a lot of time exploring.

***Keep Up To Date***
One of the tasks I hate the most is updating all the Internet programs on my computer. There's nothing like waiting for a half hour to download a program, only to find out that the updated version is almost exactly like the previous version! This week I discovered a new free service which can save you all of this pain and suffering. WebPatch is a new approach to updating software: instead of replacing your old application with the new one, WebPatch compares the two versions and only updates the parts that need to be updated. I tried this out with Internet Explorer and the WebPatch update took considerably less time to get the job done!
