V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N. Can you tell I need a break? This weekend, in honor of the brave men and women who forged America's Independence....or maybe because I have a four day weekend :), I've decided to turn off my computer, log off the internet, and try not to check my mail-news-stocks-info for a whole four days. I've decided to follow my fellow Americans and celebrate this holiday the way it was intended - I'm going to see Men in Black. So here's Monday's report a LITTLE early :)
We now return you to your regularly scheduled report :
***That Was the Year it Was: Internet circa 1995 ***
This week, just for fun, I thought I'd take you down memory lane, back to a time before Windows 95, Internet Explorer, and when three young Stanford grads were showing off their site of links... called Yahoo. It was back in 1995 at the Spring Internet World in San Jose where the Internet as we know it came of age. This week take a look back at a Report I did from the Internet World 95 show and see just how far we've come in such a short amount of time.A Look Back (Internet World 95): http://www.kleinman.com/kreport/iworld.html
*** Next To Nothing ***
Looking over my old '95 report on Internet World made me really nostalgic, so I decided to dig up my bookmark list from when I first started writing The Kleinman Report (back in 1995). As I surfed through the list (and was confronted with 404 and DNS errors for sites now long gone), I came across an old friend. If you are a fan of getting something for nothing, be sure to pay a visit to Next to Nothing, one of the first sites on the Internet that believed that the best things in life really ARE free. Next to Nothing was one of the first sites to mention the Kleinman Report (way back when) and is always a great source of free goodies and gadgets.Next To Nothing: http://www.winternet.com/~julie/ntn1.html
*** Behind Every Great Man ***
I thought I'd take a little time in the report this week to acknowledge someone who helps me each week to get my report out the door. She is my copy editor (you should see how I really spell), my site scout, and my inspiration.... she's also my wife. So thanks, Heather, for all your hard work. I couldn't do the report without you. For those of you who haven't seen it, I highly recommend you check out Heather's super-duper cosmetic site called Cosmetic Connection. Be sure to take a look at her Cosmetic Report (some people are a two car family, we are a two report one) - it's a great piece of work!Cosmetic Connection: http://www.kleinman.com/cosmetic/
