The Kleinman Report

This week I took the leap and bought myself a new PC - the second most complicated task known to man. (Second of course only to setting up and configuring the darn thing!)

Browsing through sites like Dell, Micron and Gateway, I found making a decision was becoming more difficult and that I was getting more and more frustrated trying to make sense of it all. Dazed and confused, I decided to pay an old friend a visit. The old friend was Ziff Davis.

Ziff Davis publishes over 15 different computer publications covering a wide array of computing information. With the massive amount of information at ZDNet, you would think I would have gotten completely overwhelmed, but I didn't. What makes ZDNet so great is the way it pulls tons of information into a single powerful resource. As I searched through the site, I realized how a great resource can make a complicated task much easier.

***It's often difficult to realize when you are a part of a historic moment. With the frenzied growth of the Internet and the saturation of anything Internet into every form of media, it is easy to forget how this technology is impacting us. So this week I want to point out a milestone: The 1998 Election is the first in history to use the Internet as a tool to reach voters. From your computer, you can find out a great deal about the men and women who want to represent you in our government. A great site to get to some of that information is Campaign 96 (http://www.96.com). Someday we'll look back on this.***
